- Book: 3โ8 weeks ahead; urgent orders possible depending on design.
Wedding cakes in Bahrain have shifted from the towering multi-tier centrepiece towards something more personal โ a cake that matches the couple's palette, photographs beautifully, and doesn't leave three tiers uneaten. Here are the eight styles couples are asking us for in 2026.
1. Gold leaf on soft buttercream
The signature look of the moment: an ivory or blush buttercream finish with hand-applied edible gold leaf, a few roses, and a gold monogram or "love" topper. It reads luxe without being fussy, and it suits both hall and garden receptions.
2. Tall single-tier statement cakes
Instead of three modest tiers, one dramatic extra-tall tier โ often 6 to 7 inches high โ decorated all the way round. Cheaper than a multi-tier, easier to transport, and it still owns the cake table. Pair it with sheet cakes for serving.
3. Nikkah cakes as their own thing
The nikkah now often gets its own cake โ smaller, refined, frequently in white-on-white with heritage piping and a "Just Nikkahfied" or Arabic calligraphy topper. Then a larger cake follows for the walima or reception.
4. Vintage & pressed-buttercream detail
Heritage piping โ swags, dots, pearls, shell borders โ is having a full revival, borrowed from the "vintage cake" and "London cake" styles trending across the Gulf. On a wedding cake it feels heirloom rather than retro.
5. Hand-painted portraits & monograms
A painted silhouette of the couple, a portrait panel, or an elaborate gold monogram tied to the wedding branding. It personalises an otherwise classic cake.
6. Fresh flowers, chosen to match the bouquet
Rather than generic sugar flowers, couples send a photo of the bridal bouquet and we echo it on the cake โ the same roses, the same baby's breath, the same tone.
7. Colour beyond white
Deep burgundy and ivory, sage green, terracotta, and dusty blue are all appearing on Bahrain wedding cakes now, usually as an accent band or the flowers rather than the whole cake.
8. The display-cake-plus-sheet-cake combo
The most practical trend of all: a beautiful smaller cake for the cutting and the photos, with matching sheet cakes of the same flavour sliced behind the scenes. You get the centrepiece and everyone gets a slice, for far less than an all-real multi-tier.
What it costs and when to book
Single-tier cakes start from the base weight price (from 9 BHD per 1/2 kg) plus florals and finishing; multi-tier cakes are quoted individually. Our wedding cake guide has a full size-by-guest-count table. Book 3โ8 weeks ahead, earlier in peak season โ though we do take urgent wedding cakes when the design allows.
